SUNDAY: Arrival to the Faroe Islands. Enjoy the stillness and the magnificent views.
Arrival to the Faroe Islands. Shuttle transfer from the airport to overnight accommodation in Tórshavn. After checking into your accommodation, you can enloy a walk around Tórshavn.
End the day with a visit to one of the cafés or bars and meet to the locals.
MONDAY: Beautiful as a postcard – The island of Vágar
Pick up at your hotel. Sightseeing with driver/guide to the island of Vágar. First stop will be in the small village of Bøur. We will take a stroll through this small village while we enjoy the scenic view of Tindhólmur and the freestanding rocks, Drangarnir.
We continue through the only tunnel on the island to the distant and previously isolated village of Gásadalur. Here we will enjoy a walk to the most photographed waterfall in the Faroes, Múlafossur.
For dinner, we suggest that you use the opportunity to dine at one of the many good restaurants in Tórshavn.
TUESDAY: Highlights and Storytelling - The villages Saksun, Tjørnuvík and Gjógv
Pick up at your hotel. Sightseeing with driver/guide to the islands of Streymoy and Eysturoy. From Tórshavn we drive via the mountain road to the village Saksun. Saksun lies picturesque in a natural circular amphitheatre high above a tidal lagoon. Saksun has an attractive whitewashed church with a grass roof, often seen in pictures from the Faroe Islands.
We continue to Tjørnuvík, but make a photo stop at the waterfall, Fossá, which is the highest waterfall in the Faroe Islands. Tjørnuvík is the northernmost village on Streymoy and is beautifully situated at the bottom of a bay surrounded by mountains and sandy beach. From the village there is a fantastic view of the rock formations Giant and the Witch.
Cross the bridge, that connects the islands of Eysturoy and Streymoy and continue to the village of Eiði. Here more beautiful surroundings and nature will await you and view of the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur. In Gjógv we see the natural harbour which the village is named after.
WEDNESDAY: City walk in Tórshavn - Explore Tórshavn on your own
Meet the guide at agreed spot downtown. City walk, visit Tinganes and the old part of town, Reyn.
On your own visit shop, Østrøm where you can see and buy modern Faroese art and handiwork. Next door is Steinprent, a lithographic workshop and gallery exhibiting their latest works.
If your interest is in Faroese music, then make a stop at Tutl. Make sure you have a look in at these shops Marjun Heimá, Ullvøruhúsið and Guðrun&Guðrun who sell knitwear in the latest Faroese fashion. You will also come across the cosy old bookshop that is definitely worth a look inside.
We suggest visiting the Nordic House and the Art Gallery, where you can see how extensively the Faroese nature and landscape has influenced the Faroese artists through the years.
THURSDAY: Departure from the Faroe Islands.
